Tennis elbow is often an overuse injury located in the radial attachment at the elbow. If you were to start at your thumb and follow up the radial bone till the elbow the tendinitis or swelling, potential tearing, and pain will be located in this area and sometimes spread down to the wrist. The cause of Tennis elbow is most often overuse from repetitive motion of lifting and or supinating elbow as seen in tennis, carpenters, butchers, plumbers, electricians, painters, stick sports, etc…
What can Kinesiology do?
At MRMT we practice a Kinesiopathic model to treat Tennis Elbow. We will find the route cause of why these injuries may have happened, we will determine the phase of healing you are in (how acute the injury is), assess your biomechanics (if you hurt your back during an olympic lift, back squat, bench press etc… we will do a biomechanics analysis of these lifts to make sure the correct muscles are being used.) We then find your strength and mobility imbalances in the joints above and below to get a complete look at how your system is functioning. There is no exact protocol because each injury is different. The treatment will be tailored to what we find in you.
What can massage do?
Massage can help tennis elbow in the acute, subacute stage and chronic (when the elbow is swollen it is in the acute stage, and in subacute the muscles will be starting to form again, chronic stage the muscle will have healed with layers of scar tissue and be a constant problem and pain). Each stage will look different for massage and be complimented with physio to help regain strength. All of our therapists are trained to know what treatments will be successful in each stage of your injury.
