DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE EDMONTON
Deep Tissue Massage FAQs
Does deep tissue massage hurt?
Yes and no. Deep tissue massage can hurt because we are targeting the deep layers of muscles which requires firm pressure, and adhesions (knots) are often painful and more sensitive. However there are ways to decrease the pain of deep tissue massage using heat (we use hot stones for heat) and we can take our time getting into those deep layers of the muscles to decrease the amount of pain. We work within your pain tolerance, during the massage you should never experience more than a 6-7 out of 10 pain.
How do I book deep tissue massage?
We include deep tissue massage in every massage. We use our expertise and knowledge to understand where and when deep tissue will be beneficial and most effective.
Can every therapist get deep enough?
All of our therapists are very strong and very good at what they do. We use our knowledge and education to understand where we need to push to alleviate your pain.
Why do I get weird referral pain with deep tissue massage?
This is normal, Your muscles are tight, and they are often in a constant state of contraction even when you are trying to relax. This can impinge the nerves that surround the area. When we push and get deeper into tight muscles the nerves that are trapped are sending referral pain. After we stop pushing on the area the referral pain goes away!
